Next stop...Ghana

So here is the start to my next great adventure. I will be departing for Ghana on May 24th to begin working for Women in Progress in Cape Coast. My 3 months there will be spent working on different projects in the Cape Coast area to help the community establish sound business practices. I have been assigned to 3 different projects. One of these projects is to help promote tourism in a small fishing village about 10km east of Cape Coast. I will be working with village chiefs and elders to re-launch a village excursion. My next project involves business development training to women in Cape Coast. On the third project I will be working with a husband and wife business that does wood carving, jewelry design, and seamstressing, among other things. I will have a consulting role where I will help them with better financial management of the company. I am extremely thrilled with these projects and am looking forward to getting over there and begin working. I will be living with other volunteers at a house that is close to the ocean, so that should be another enjoyable experience. Below are a couple of links to Women in Progress and Global Mamas, which is the internet marketplace for the Ghanaian goods produced by the women involved with WIP.

I am looking forward to sharing this journey with you. And of course, a huge thanks to all of you who helped make this possible, your support has been overwhelming.
